"Pavor Nocturnus" - November 6, 2009
Magnus wakes up to find the Sanctuary in ruins and the entire city destroyed, and no memory of how the devastation occurred. She ventures out into a destoyed Old city, only to be attacked. Will saves her, but then in a twist shoots and tortures her, insisting that the real Helen Magnus dies 3 years ago. The two work together and enter the ruins of the old Sanctuary to try to learn the truth from Magnus' files, but Will is infected and sacrifices himself to buy her the time she needs. In trying to understand what happened, Magnus realizes that a mission years ago to try and find a cure for her immortality may have released a contagion that caused a plague of cannabalistic abnormals to destroy humanity. She realizes that while the vial contained the cure for her problems, it also contained a disease which she inadvertantly released and died of as patient zero. Just as she is about to be killed, she is transported back in time to the moment that she found the virus, which is guarded by some sort of noncorporeal abnormal who apparently transported her through time to show her the consequences of her actions and then back once she had learned. She leaves the vial with the disease where she found it and returns to the Sanctuary still immortal.
