Story
Silent Hill: Origins is a prequel, exclusive to the Playstation Portable [PSP],
to the famous Silent Hill released on Playstation in 1999. Silent Hill: Origins,
aply named, tells the story of the events before the original Silent Hill and
the Origins of how the town came to what it is today.
Following the tradition of the previous Silent Hill games, Travis Grady,
a seemingly normal truck driver, however, as all silent hill games go he
has been called to Silent Hill for a reason. He is on a routine delivery
when Silent Hill: Origins Logohe decides to take the quick route through
Silent Hill and stop of Brahms for the night. On route to Silent Hill his
truck is forced to stop when a young girl is seen in the road after he has
some painful flashbacks of a graveyard and his younger self attending a
funeral. This event and past trailers suggest that Travis has some mental
issues which could be to do with why the town has called him. Travis gets
out to investigate only to find no one there apart from the creepy little
girl in his read view mirror. After the initial shock, he sees the girl
standing in front of him. He waits for her to speak but instead she runs
into the fog. He peruses her until he finds the legendary house where it
all began. Silent Hill 1 fans will recognise this house in an instant.
Then a popular theory is proven: Its not fog its smoke my god.
He hears a scream and rushes in to save the little girl trapped in the fire.
After he makes it out onto the lawn a familiar siren plays and he collapses.
He wakes up in the foggy town of Silent Hill determined to find out what
happened to the girl he saved, however things arent as they seem when
he arrives at the hospital. Shifty staff, strange noises, rusting walls
and hellish demons.
Weapons
In Silent Hill: Origins pretty much everything and anything can be used
as a weapon against the monsters of the town. They range from the classic
Steel Pipe and Pistol to a TV or a Toaster. Obviouslt throwing a TV does
a large amount of damage, a huge amount in comparison with a pistol bullet.
However, you can't keep them forever. Toasters and TVs are one time use only
weapons , meaning they smash and you can't pick them up again once you have
thrown them. Weapons such as pipes and polls will last a few hits but will
eventually break as well.
Breakable weapons reminds a lot of people of the terrible weapon system
in Silent Hill 4, however its not quite the same. In Silent Hill 4, if
you had a golfclub, beat a ghost with it and it broke rendering it
unusable you would have to return to the apartment and put it in the
box, even though it was broken and you could never use it for anything.
In Silent Hill: Origins, Travis takes the initiative of throwing away
the useless,broke weapons.
Weapons seen so far in screenshots or trailers current consist of: knives,
sledgehammers, hatstands, TVs, Toasters, pistols, shotguns, machineguns,
fishing poles, 2x4, hunting rifle.
