Millenia Nova is a German electronic duo from Munich consisting of Mathias Neuhauser and Michael Meinl. They create instrumental pop music including independent, rock, pop and ambient influences.
Imaginary distances. A sense of security. Melancholy. Boundless happiness. The heartbeat accelerates. One is one and one is all. Sit down and dance at the same time. Dream. Feel the longing. Know that inherent in beauty there is a rather big chunk of melancholy because beauty fades and is as transitory as any existence on this planet. But true beauty will remain.
Such are the associations that swell through body and brain like surf when the cherished listener discovers the music of MILLENIA NOVA.
The duo which are Munich - based buddies Mathias Neuhauser and Michael Meinl presented their atmospheric timeless pop on two predecessors, "Nice Mysterious Heavy Stuff" (1997) and "Slow E-Motion Sight Seeing" (1999), turning out gems which, in retrospect, still seem mere foreplay for "Narcotic Wide Screen Vista", Millenia Nova's third album, which was released in January 2003 and their masterpiece so far. Making more than 70 minutes playtime, stoical and regular, with not a single boring note in between, with every note capturing the magic of the moment.
Apart from the notable change to more song orientated tracks and more dance compatibility, this album impresses above all with it's great participation of guest singers. Mathias and Michael who are self proclaiming theirself as musicians "with not-so-hot singing voices" managed it to deplete the treasure-trove of vocal acrobats. VIVID - singer Thomas Hanreich performs on a total of four songs, and others, like Alison from the Maltese grop Combo THE BEANGROWERS, SLUT - voice Chris Neuburger, Kelli Ali of SNEAKER PIMPS fame chipped in. Not to mention the voice of the one who did it all and did it first, Punk enfant terrible IGGY POP, who can be heard on the track "Rockicide", which will be the first single of that album (RD: 24.03.2003 via Island Mercury / Universal), the absolute high point of MILLENIA NOVA' s new album ( place 5 of the GAC). A high point among high points because this album goes from climax to climax, thanks to the other guesting vocalists which also did their best to make "Narcotic Wide Screen Vista" a passionate player full of deeply-felt atmosphere.
It is very important to them to make the album sound international, to be a "calling-card" for the whole world.
They more than fulfilled what they set out to do. MILLENIA NOVA's music embraces the listener, worldwide, gentle and firm and never lets him go. Never again. The reward in the end was place 5 in the German album charts.
