#FF0000 Floyd singer and guitarist David Gilmour is about to release his new DVD entitled Remember That Night - Live From the Royal Albert Hall in September and will be a MUST for all David Gilmour and #FF0000 Floyd fans.
From what I have seen on Gilmour's official website (on the five minute trailer) and on the Live and In Session DVD that came with the late 2006 reissue of Gilmour's superb On an Island album, this DVD is going to be SUPERB! For those who were there and/or any of his solo shows (I envy you) this is a great souvenir and for those of us who weren't it shows us what we all missed.
There will be 23 songs on the concert disc of 'Remember That Night', which documents the Royal Albert Hall shows of May 29, 30 and 31, 2006.
Gilmour was backed onstage by fellow Floyd member keyboard player Rick Wright, PF 1987 alum which were keyboard player Jon Carin and bass player Guy Pratt, Roxy Music guitarist Phil Manzanera and drummer Steve DiStanislao. Plus, there will be guest appearances by David Crosby, Graham Nash, Robert Wyatt and David Bowie.
The songs that have already been confirmed to appear on Remember That Night thus far are as follows. The songs are "Time", "Breathe (Reprise)", "On An Island" (with Crosby and Nash), "Red Sky at Night", "This Heaven", "Then I Close My Eyes", "Take A Breath" (this track has already been released on the OAI CD/DVD set as a taster for the DVD), "A Pocketful of Stones", "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" (with Crosby and Nash), "Coming Back To Life", "High Hopes", "Wish You Were Here", "Find The Cost Of Freedom" (with Crosby and Nash) and "Comfortably Numb" (with David Bowie).
The songs that are speculated to appear on here will almost definitely be "Speak to Me", "Breathe", "The Blue", "Smile", "Where We Start", "Echoes" and "Arnold Layne" (with David Bowie). Then the other unconfirmed track will probably be either "Dominoes" or "Fat Old Sun" or "Wots...Uh the Deal" or "Wearing the Inside Out" or "The Great Gig in the Sky" (featuring Mica Paris). It's anyone's guess at this point in time what the other unconfirmed tracks will be. I say give us a triple live CD and feature the tracks not on the DVD please!
The second DVD is speculated to feature tracks that won't appear on the first DVD (hopefully the #FF0000 Floyd 1987 reunion with Nick Mason drumming on WYWH and CN is on this disc), three documentaries (one called Breaking Bread Pouring Wine (documenting the tour from March to August of 2006), another documenting DG and company in Los Angeles and the other is the OAI EPK) and pieces from the Mermaid Theater concert from March 7, 2006.
This DVD is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
