Description:
Good Girl Gone Bad is the third studio album by R&B singer Rihanna, released on June 4, 2007 in most European countries and on June 5, 2007 in the United States. The album proved to be a success having sold over 7 million copies worldwide.[citation needed] It has peaked within the top ten in 25 countries across the globe.
Along with the album's success its singles have gone on become major hits—these include the worldwide number-one hit single "Umbrella", the European and Australian number-one "Don't Stop the Music" (which also became a top three hit in the U.S. and Canada), "Hate That I Love You" and "Shut Up and Drive", which respectively became top ten and twenty hits on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. The eighth single, "Rehab", became the album's seventh single to reach the top 20 on the Hot 100, this made 'Good Girl Gone Bad' the second album in history to have seven singles reach the top twenty on the Billboard Hot 100, the first being Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation 1814 (1989).
The album was re-released in June 2008, a year after its original release, under the title Good Girl Gone Bad: Reloaded. The double-disc deluxe edition package includes three new singles: the U.S., Canadian and UK number-one "Take a Bow", "If I Never See Your Face Again" (which debuted at number fifty-seven on the Billboard Hot 100) and "Disturbia", which became the third single from the album to reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100. The album has been certified two times Platinum by the RIAA, denoting shipments to U.S. retailers of two million copies.
"Good Girl Gone Bad" was released as a remix collection on January 27, 2009 and on February 2, 2009 in the UK. The songs are radio edits. This release is different to the bonus disc found on the original album's 'Deluxe Edition' in that it excludes the remixes of "SOS" and of the bonus tracks "Cry" and "Haunted". In turn this release adds in remixes of "Disturbia" and "Take A Bow" from 'Reloaded' but excludes the remix of "If I Never See Your Face Again" featuring Maroon 5 (a remix of this can be found on Call and Response: The Remix Album). Another Umbrella remix has been added, and the remix of "Don't Stop The Music" has also been changed. "Rehab" has also been excluded. On January 26, 2009, a day before the CD release,Universal Music Group had added the CD to their list of "First Plays", a online version of the CD. This could be heard right here. The album charted at #106 on the Billboard 200.
